Last Evening in America... for a while

I've been taking a short break from packing like crazy to enjoy the last bit of time I'll have at home for the summer. Tyler and I were watching some Real Housewives of NYC, but maybe that's a part of America that it'll be good to be away from for a while. So, I figured I would set up this blog so my friends and family can see what I'll be up to for the summer.

My flight to Germany leaves tomorrow night - I'm flying into Frankfurt, and from there taking a train into Wurzburg, where I'll be living for the next 10 weeks. I'm going to be working in a structural biology lab at the Rudolph Virchow Center for Experimental Biomedicine at the University of Wurzburg - Dr. Caroline Kisker's lab. My project will be working to determine the structure and function of a protein involved in a DNA repair pathway. I'm really excited about this work because 1) It's structural biology, which I really like, because you can actually visualize the proteins that are working inside your cells, and 2) the project has applications to cancer research. Hopefully I will get great data this summer, in addition to having a great time living in Germany.

Well, break's over. Back to packing - everything seems to be fitting in my suitcase, which means I must be leaving something big out.

Auf Wiedersehen!
